My friends clever son has been hacking control systems in cars for a few years in Perth starting with Holdens then Fords. I think he reprograms the CES for performance etc. Also writes software patchs. Recently Toyota and others have been courting him. He operates remotely on cars globally by sending owners some sort of kit which they connect. Hes just taken over a warehouse space and hired staff, so it won be long before he's snaffled up.

300/hr used to be good lawyer cost. It's now mechanic cost? Also, is this dealership scammers, entirely incompetent, or both? It sounds insane.

Its so much cheaper to call in a auto locksmith. In my town just 100 dollars for a key fob.

That same issue happened to bmw vanos who uses the exact same bolts, but there is no recall, bmw with n52, n51 and n53 engines.

Too late to answer but I'll take a guess, AC drain blokage, instead of leaking the water out, drain hose unplugged and leaks on passenger flloor, that happened to me on 2015 Chrysler 200 and 2010 Toyota Corolla. GL :)

Wow sam crac you really are amazing on the mechanical repairs and the great deals you get on these exotic cars it's amazing you're not scared to work on any type of car out there and the amazing part is you don't need a garage to do the work in to repair these cars just the tools even if you need a few specialty tools it's worth doing the job right seemi use to do work like the work you do and I use to rebuild any car transmission automatic or others for a living as well and work on engines also it's amazing how cars canne manufactured and repaired and it don't cost as much as a dealership to maintain if you have the tools and the specs of the car to do the work and I have a 1999AudiA8 with 123 k on it mymoms old cari got from her it drives like a new car and it my daily but not driven a lot I'm disabled now from long haulers covid andi need the water pump installed and I'm gonna get a new timing belt installed also see before mymoms bought he car he owner before put a timing belt on h car and the water pump wasn't leaking he wentthecheaper route but that route is not recommended but I drips every now and then setting only a 3 to 4 oz cup worth but not all the time but I'm gonna get it repaired I want to drive this cars longtime and I jave a1998 R129 mercedes benz i own that i drove it for 10 years with no problems until the fan clutch gave out and I was driving a distance amd the engine ober heated it still runs nuti ave a parts car withva great runnimg engine im gonma habe tovhabe installed how much would you do both for me I'll provide all replacement parts I need other than the ones you have to get ?or give me an estimate on both cars

For that stripped bolts u should buy the grip edge torx and hex, I use the Mac version rbrt and they actually work and bite into semi stripped bolts

As a former dealer tech, outside of covered repairs (warranty/recall) don't ever go. Maybe you'll get lucky and get the one tech who actually prides themselves in their work, but more likely than not this will be your experience. Upselling and minimal to no real diag.
